Accounting Specialist Certificate
This 27-credit program provides a foundational mastery of accounting principles and essential business practices. Curriculum focuses on preparing you for entry-level roles including accounts receivable/payable clerk and bookkeeping assistant. The program integrates broader business coursework that can serve as a standalone qualification or applied toward an Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) degree.

Program Information
The Accounting Specialist Certificate prepares students working in the accounting field for career advancement opportunities. Students will gain an in-depth knowledge of accounting principles and procedures and apply them to business situations. Students will also use application software to solve business and accounting problems. A grade of “C” or better must be earned in the following courses: ACCT 100 Business Accounting, ACCT 101 Principles of Accounting I, ACCT 111 Computerized Accounting, ACCT 201 Intermediate Accounting I, ACCT 202 Intermediate Accounting II, and ACCT 220 Accounting Information Systems.
Success in the program is defined by your ability to apply what you’ve learned in real-world scenarios. This program ensures that every student achieves the following core competencies:
- Apply generally accepted accounting principles to record accounting transactions/adjustments and create financial statements.
- Construct financial , estimates, reconciliations, and reports to support business decision-making using appropriate technology.
- Create financial statements and record accounting transactions/adjustments utilizing accounting software.
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in a business environment.
